Stranger than Fiction
Stranger than Fiction
This will be my
thought about the movie, “Stranger than Fiction”. “Stranger than Fiction”
directed by Marc Forster and written by Zach helm said that you must die sometime or other, but you don’t know when or how you die, so try to start what
you really wanted to do in your life. In the movie there are individual and
characterful characters, a bland IRS official, a hysteric writer, a freewheeling
bakery lady, and an assistant of the hysteric writer. The main character is
Harold whose life looks boring. He looks like a robot in the movie. He always
counts everything such as the number of brushing his teeth or steps for going
to bus station. Putting on watch is important for him because he needs to
manage his time effectively. He doesn’t have any hobbies and something else except
his everyday life like eating, washing, working, and so on. However, one day
something happens in his life. When he brushes his teeth, he hears someone’s
narration that is woman’s voice in the air around him. The narrator depicts
what he does, but he can’t see anyone around him. She narrates he is going to
die someday, and it will be soon. She says but he doesn’t know how or when he
dies. He tries to resolve that problem. Finally he finds the narrator is a
writer who always finishes the end of her novels with death. In the weird
situation, he meets his lover who is opposite to his personality. She is a
lovely and freewheeling baker and falls in love with him. After he meets her,
his life becomes differently from his original life. He wants to live more in
this world for some reasons. He needs somebody’s help and visits a professor
who teaches students literature in order to resolve his problem. Eventually,
the main character meets the writer, and asks her a favor, “Don’t kill me
please.” The writer is shocked that her character is alive and real in a real
life. She looks serious because she asks herself how many people she killed in
her novels. She hands him her last pages that are not typed yet. He thinks that
he can’t read it, so he gives it to the professor. After he finishes the piece
of the writher’s novel, he says to the mine figure, “you must die, this is her
master piece, but I am sorry to say it, but you must die.” Harold can’t believe
his ears. He starts reading the last piece and runs toward meeting the writher,
and says, “Do it. This is amazing. I think you can finish it.” Harold accepts
her last page. He knows everything how he dies today. He walks to the bus station
with perception of his end of life. There is a boy who is riding a bicycle and falls
off his bike. Just then a truck shows up and runs towards the boy. Harold
rushes forward and saves the boy’s life. He hits against the car instead of the
little boy. The writer is typing the last page and the last letter of died. But
she stops typing at the last letter of died. Harold is dying but still alive.
He wakes up at hospital and sees his girlfriend. The writher changes her last
page. She denies killing her character at the end of her story anymore.
This lesson that I think in the movie is what
I usually thought for my wonderful life. Most people are looking like Harold’s
life. Going to work or school and back home is our everyday lives. There is no
doubt and well we don’t care of our trivial or small things such as doing what
I like or want. We usually delay or postpone what we like and want. Just
remember we will die at some time or other. Just Realize When we are alive, we
can do anything. Keep in mind what you love and want can be priority. Over all,
that is what I want to say in the movie.
Love your life
Because
you will die
sometime or other.
